Knock on Wood Construction has been in business since 1997. We have built over 1,000 custom decks in the Lehigh Valley of PA. Our employees will build your decks. We do not use subcontractors on our jobs. You can trust that we will do what we say we will do.

The Deck Estimate Process

• We will set aside approximately one hour to have an initial visit with you at your home.

• We need to first get an idea of how big a deck you want and what style best fits your home's style. On the visit we will survey the site and take all measurements that help determine the size and design of your deck.

• YOU should think about the type of decking materials you want to use. We will review with you material options for decks and your requirements.

• We will let you browse our portfolio of projects so that you can get some ideas and see the quality fo our work.

• We will discuss some lifestyle considerations. So, think about all the things you want to do on your new deck. For example, do you want to entertain your friends every weekend or once a year? Do you dislike the sun and want only the fresh air the mild weather has to offer? Do you have small children? Do you have pets? Do you plan to cook all your meals on the barbeque, all year long or just in the summer? Do you want to dine on your deck? Do you want to sunbathe on your deck? Is your deck an extension of your kitchen or family room? Is your deck a transition from interior space to exterior patio?

• We will put a sketch together based on the location and your specific requests.

  We will consider the following items:

  • Whether the ground is flat, gently sloped or, steeply sloped?
  • Whether the soil is rocky of soft.
  • The height of the deck from the ground to it's highest point.
  • Any special features you would like such as built-in benches, pergolas arbors, patio covers, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, etc.

• We will then create an architectural drawing at our office that can be used to create the final plans that will be submitted to your local township.

• If we are chosen for the job, we will take care of the permitting process with your local township.
